I was watching Lilies of the Field, oldold movie, black and white, and in the beginning Homer Smith is driving and he meets nuns on a farm like thing and he asks if he can have water, his car "is thirsty" and he fills this canvas bag looking thing with water from the pump and proceeds to dump it under the hood.. I've never heard of watering your car.
Why did he water his car?
He was putting water in the radiator. Most cars are water-cooled, not aircooled, although now we usually use anti-freeze and water together.
