I'm going to get my first tattoo in september when I turn 18. I've been searching designs for over a year now and I've finally decided on the water lily, without the lily pad. I've found a stensil of the perfect water lily but it has a lily pad. I want it on my right bum cheek, not right in the middle LOL but a little higher up. I only want an outline in black ink, no colour. The water lily symbolizes immortality and regeneration and its also my country's national flower.

the link is the stencil of the water lily i want but i dont want the lily pad.
What do you think?
My FIRST tattoo..help!?
With the fact that you want the lily pad out, when the artist makes his/her transfer make sure he/she allows you to approve of it prior to application. A transfer is like a fake tattoo, they stick it on you but they tattoo over it. Transfers usually are just the outline but no shading.
Also since you have gone to Tattoo Johnny use the Tattoo Test Drive to see how it looks on you. You can photoshop out the lilypad, plus englarge it to whatever size you want it. I recommed doing this because once you are inked you can't go back. It's not like a piercing that you can take out and thats it. You would have to get laser surgery tyo remove it.
I can go on about this but just look into care guides or feel free to just ask.
Reply:It looks good. Just bring the pic to your tattoo artist and (s)he can just re-draw it without the lily pad
Reply:very cool!! loves it! and they will be able to do it, good luck.
Reply:looks good so tell ur tat man what u want
and if he says different then go to some 1 els
good luck
Reply:I like it, it looks a lil like my first tattoo, only mine is purple, I think it will look awsome and I love the meaning behind it, only downfall is you have to drop your droors to show everyone.
Reply:well i think the black will look good but just an outline? i dont think that will look very good but with shading and a good tattoo artist that will look very nice
Reply:Just tell your tattoo artist not the tattoo the lily pad.
They can do whatever you want them to. You are in no way limited to EXACTLY what's on that drawing. Your artist can draw whatever you want.
No worries. :)
Reply:just tell your tattoo artist exactly what youre going for. i saw a design in a tattoo parlor once and i loved it but i made a few changes. if your artist is worth a crap they will be able to give you what you want
Reply:When you go in for the tat just tell the artist you dont want the pad, they can just leave it out. It's not a big deal for them. I have them modify tattoo's all the time, to make them personal for me.
Reply:Yeah what color? Isn't this the flower thats called a cabbage rose? It looks exactally like it with the pad removed.
Reply:ONLY the outline will not look good. You will also need the shading.
Black ink fades overtime. Choose a color with less of a fade factor for both the outline and the shading.
Reply:go for it..when you go to get it done just let the artist know you want only the flower and no pad.. they wont have a prob with that... good luck
