I have a peace lily with browning tips, and no flowers.?

I have had this plant for over a year in the same pot, location, watering schedule. It has blossomed twice, but now it has been awhile since any new flowers. It continually grows new leaves from the center, but the outer leaves are browning and curling on the ends. This plant has sentimental value, and I really would like to fix it! Does it need a new pot...too much water??

Remove the outer leaves. They are old and ready to be cut off. The plant needs a new pot. Make it just the next size up.

Taking the lily outside and just letting water run through it would make it happy too. Or put it in the shower, but then you have to clean the shower.
Reply:you can tell if your plant needs to be repotted by looking at the holes are roots growing out of it ,then yes if no roots are visible do not transplant usually brown leaves mean over or under watering try cutting the brown leaves off at a diagonal cut to encourage new growth sometimes when a plant gets new leaves the bottom leaves tend to turn brown or yellow if your plant does need to be re potted only go 2 inches in pot size the bigger the pot the more water you will add eventually this will cause root rot
Reply:lilies are great plants and easy to keep with a few requirements

1. you must water consistently

2. you must repot it

3. cut off the dead leaves

4. give it some plant food

5. give it some warmth and sun shine.

the main key for flowers is sun shine.

peacelilies bloom whenever they feel like it, so it may bloom in the summer. most like to bloom in the winter, but they never go dormat
