Anyone know this British aquatic plant?

Is it just a young water-lily? It grows in the same part of the river as the yellow water-lillies, but the leaves are such a different shape...

Anyone know this British aquatic plant?
Looks like Hydrocotyle ranunculoides. We have these in our school pond.

Horticulture student.
Reply:can you elaborate please?
Reply:Looks like marsh pennywort, Hydrocotyle ranunculoides. They have inconspicuous umbels of small white flowers.
Reply:It could be a 'Water Soldier' Stratioties aloides. They float to the surface in Summer, and sink on having flowered, forming new buds in Winter/Spring. Better pic. needed.
