I just rip open the bag and dump it on there. Maybe water it down a little. I think tea is good for acid-loving plants, but I don't know if my plants fit the bill. Personal experiences appreciated!
Is tea good for a golden pothos and peace lily?
Yes my mother used to put tea in her pothos and peace lilyes and still does the plant seems to like something in the tea, but i don't know what it is?
Reply:my father in law used nothing but cold tea on his houseplants and they were brilliant. I have tried to do the same but without such spectacular result. Perhaps he used a special tea!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:When I grow pothos, I just use water with quarter-strength fertilizer and no soil at all. It grows like mad :-)
I haven't ever grown a peace lily (spathiphyllum). If it's working, then that sounds like all the reason you need; as they say - nothing succeeds like success! If you haven't tried it yet, I really *would* stick with houseplant fertilizers. Tea is comparatively acidic, and most plants just don't need that much.
Reply:I'm not aware of tea itself having any fertilizing properties - and I would caution on using too much of it as the tannic acid could be detrimental to your plants.
Reply:I use tea leaves and liquid tea on most of my house plants and they all seem to thrive regardless of whether they are acid loving or not.
I'm not sure whether it is the tannings in the tea or the mere fact that it is liquid.
Reply:IN MY OPINION IF YOU DO NOT KNOW IF YOUR PLANTS FIT THE BILL WHY ARE YOU NOT LOOKING THEM UP TO SEE IF THEY NEED THIS TYPE OF CARE IN MY OPINION YOU ARE SLOWLY BUT SURELY KILLING THEM I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF PLANTS ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS
